December 17: Top ten new-to-me authors I read in 2013
I read lots of new authors every year—almost everything I read is by a new author to me! Only a few authors have stayed with me that I’ve read more of: Margaret Atwood, Jon Krakauer, etc. But, for 2013 these are the top new authors to me in my reading this year. In no particular order:
- Jojo Moyes (Me Before You)
- Cheryl Strayed (Wild)
- Richard Preston (The Hot Zone)
- Teddy Wayne (The Love Song of Jonny Valentine)
- David Benioff (City of Thieves)
- Meg Wolitzer (The Interestings)
- Herman Koch (The Dinner)
- Carlos Ruiz Zafón (The Shadow of the Wind)
- Lionel Shriver (Big Brother)
- Alissa Nutting (Tampa)
What new authors did you “discover” this year?
Great list- I love Moyes and Zafron!
Thanks! I would love to read more by Moyes and Zafón 🙂
Ooooh I’ve read about half of those authors, many of them in 2013!!! Good list! This year, I found Ramona Ausubel when reading her book, No One Is Here Except All of Us. . . it was AMAZING!
Awesome! I will take a look at your review 🙂
Wonderful. I almost added Teddy Wayne to my list and I’m glad Carlos Ruiz Zafón made the list
Yeah! I know several of my listed authors are “new” but I had never heard of them before this year 🙂
I was planning to read Me Before You and The Shadow of the Wind this year but I guess I’ll have to read them next year. I’m glad you found great new authors!
I hope you do get a chance, those two were fantastic! 🙂
