It’s Monday, what are you reading?—a weekly blog meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
Okay people—I think I might be sort of back to normal-ish pretty soon with my schedule. The next couple of weeks are a bit hellish, but I might be able to squeeze in some posts.
Last week I finished reading True Grit by Charles Portis for the KC Public Library’s 2013 Big Read. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected! I’m not really much of a “Westerns” person, but True Grit was laced with dry humor that was right up my alley. We had a really lively discussion at the library last Wednesday, so I was waiting until after that to do my post here on the book, but then…
I went to Chicago on Thursday for a family birthday party weekend and ended up finishing The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood on the train. Awesome, awesome book. I am in love with this series! I have the final one in the trilogy, MaddAddam, on my shelf—been waiting for me to finish Flood so I’m looking forward to getting to that one soon! Hopefully before the end of the year.
Finally though, I am reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King for our #112263Along, hosted by me here on mylittleheartmelodies.com! On the train coming back yesterday I was able to get almost all the way through Part 2. It has been fun to see Jake (our protagonist) running into familiar faces. I am just really in awe of King’s commitment to his weird sort of alternate universe he’s created in Maine.
It is not too late to sign up and join us for the #112263Along! Check out my announcement post here or sign up on the linky below 🙂
