It’s Monday, what are you reading?—a weekly blog meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
Well, it’s still slow going on reading time for me, but I did manage to finish one audiobook last week: Tampa by Alissa Nutting. I’ll work on that review post and hopefully have it up by the end of the week!
Otherwise, I’m still plugging away through About This Life by Barry Lopez for my KC Library book group, Stranger than Fiction. I only got halfway through before the discussion meeting, but I wasn’t alone—about half of us didn’t finish. But the group leader decided we could have some extra time with it if we wanted. It’s just a dense read and needs good, considerable chunks of time to get through and savor, which of course I’m lacking right now.
Another one I just got from the library is True Grit by Charles Portis for the Big Read 2013. I’m not much of a westerns person but I’m really enjoying it so far! I did see the 2010 Coen Brothers film remake starring Jeff Bridges when it first was released, but don’t remember it too well. I am definitely going to the discussion on this one, which will be merged with the KC Library/KC Star’s FYI Book Group meeting, and I would love to get to at least one other True Grit related program presented by the library this month, if I can.
What are you reading this week?
One book finished is good. I can usually only manage one or two per week.
True Grit sounds good.
ENJOY your week.

My It’s Monday, What Are You Reading
Thanks! I have Wednesday night free so I’m hoping to get some good reading time in then 🙂
Oh wow, I didn’t even realize that Tampa was available in audiobook – that has to be even more interesting than reading in print, which was a crazy experience for me!
It was! The narrator was great (a woman, befitting the POV). She was really kind of sinister and sultry at the same time. Totally worked.
Tampa…yikes. That was one CRAZY book 😉
True Grit is SO SO SO good! I couldn’t believe how much I loved that one. I hope you do too!
Have a great week Kristin!
Thanks! Yeah I should have some reading time on Wednesday night and Sunday… sigh. Not ever enough! 🙂
