Last Friday I had the pleasure of hearing The Wires in concert at the Kansas City Museum. I was in orchestra with these ladies back in college, and Sascha played cello on my senior composition recital, but you know how it goes—people move away, you get jobs, get married—you lose touch. Anyway, Sascha and Laurel perform together as alternative strings duo The Wires. They write their own pieces, inspired by all sorts of different sources from musical styles to places they’ve traveled and more. I was wholly impressed with their extensive repertoire and stellar playing. It was just a really nice night; I love outdoor concerts in the summertime!
