It’s Monday, what are you reading?—a weekly blog meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
Well, I finished Under the Dome by Stephen King for the DomeAlong (hosted by Coffee and a Book Chick) on Thursday last week (review post here) and kind of puttered around before I picked a new one. I just couldn’t decide on anything, and my mind was elsewhere, mostly on moving… which is what I did pretty much all weekend. No time to read much anyway.
However last night I made myself pick something, one of the few books I still had with me at my temporary summer home: The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer. Set mostly in New York City, The Interestings is about six friends who meet as teenagers at a New England summer camp for the arts in the 1970s, and chronicles the dynamic shifts in their relationships over the next three decades. The first chapter was a little long and I started getting worried it was too YA-ish… but then it totally grabbed me in chapters 2–3. Even though I still have a lot of moving stuff to take care of, I’m hoping to finish it by the end of the week.
What are you reading this week?
I’m between books right now. I’ll probably start Jennifer Miller’s “The Year of the Gadfly” next, but I’m not sure. Nothing is really appealing to me right now.
Yeah. I think I’m hitting a late-summer slump. And with all the moving nonsense, just can’t concentrate on anything. My mind wanders. 😦 Finally I just had to make myself sit there for an hour and read SOMETHING, and how about that, I got into The Interestings!
