It’s Monday, what are you reading?—a weekly blog meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
What am I NOT reading?? is more like it! I got myself into a situation after getting back from Aspen. First, I am still reading Under the Dome by Stephen King for the DomeAlong (hosted by Coffee and a Book Chick), but I did set that aside for the week when I was on the road, thinking I’d force myself to start reading one of the ebooks I downloaded to my iPad. Well, that pretty much worked, so now I’m about halfway through The Orchardist by Amanda Coplin. However, I find it hard to make myself pick it up now that I’m back at home. Maybe I just want to get away from screens when I’m done with work, or the call of the physical paper books right in front of me is more compelling… I don’t know. It’s weird. It’s a good book, too, and I’m enjoying the story.
Otherwise, I have two library check-outs that are coming due soon. I started the beginning of Ready Player One by Ernest Cline on audio at the end of my roadtrip. I’ve been listening to that in the car or while I’ve been cooking/cleaning at home. I still have a couple of hours to go… it’s tougher for me to get audio-listening in during my day-to-day life at home, rather than in one mega-sitting on a long drive. But this one is fun in all its nerd-tastic glory, and Wil Wheaton’s performance on the audio is great!
My other library check-out is Little Star by John Ajvide Lindqvist, the author of bestseller Let the Right One In (I read it a few years ago). I checked this one out a couple weeks ago and the due date is coming up—I lost track of time! So yesterday I finally started it and have gotten about 30% through already, so that’s good. Hopefully I can finish by the end of this week, especially with Thursday off work for the holiday. I like it a lot so far; Lindqvist is a great horror writer. Scary stuff—I’ve gasped out loud a couple times already!
What are you reading this week?
