A week or so ago I discovered on some of the blogs I read regularly that a summer readalong was coming up for Under the Dome by Stephen King, from May 25–July 27. I was compelled right away to join, and yesterday the copy I requested from my public library came in. Hooray!
Hosted by Natalie at Coffee and a Book Chick (click here or on the photo above for more about the readalong), the DomeAlong looks like it will be pretty laid-back and fun with only the lightest structure, which is perfect for me this summer. I’m not sure how easily I’d be able to keep up with check-in points, etc.! But going at my own pace and writing midway and wrap-up posts is definitely doable. Here are some other details about my participation:
• The copy of Under the Dome that I have is print, hardcover, and a whopping 1074 pages!
• I have read some classic Stephen King before, like Carrie, Different Seasons, Pet Sematary, The Shining, etc. but nothing newer, and I’ve not read any King in a long time. I probably haven’t read a King book since I was in high school. • I was not familiar at all with Under the Dome before signing up. Just seemed like a fun thing to do this summer, and I have enjoyed King books in the past, so why not! I’m also curious if there will be surprise appearances by any
• I’d also be happy with an appearance by Spiderpig.
• I’m just looking forward to connecting with some bloggers and reading an epic sci-fi/mystery/horror/dystopia story this summer!
Happy reading!
I’m so glad that you’re doing this too! 😀 It’s going to be a fun ride!
I’ve only had the book a couple days and I’m already hooked. Yay! 🙂
I tried to read this when it came out but I had a hand injury and I literally could not hold up the book. It is the stupidest reason I’ve ever had for not finishing a book. I need to get it on my e-reader sometime.
Bummer! Sorry to hear about your injury 😦 As a musician, I’m not sure what I’d do with a hand injury. I guess you could have tried audio to finish, but if you had already bought a print book… eh. Why buy it twice, I guess!
So far I can say for it… I’ve only had it a couple of days and already I find it hard to put down. Already about 100 pages in! Thanks for check out my blog 🙂
