bout of books 7.0 wrap-up

That’s it! Bout of Books 7.0 wrap-up time. I was feeling awesome about my goals and progress early in the week—even halfway through—but late in the week I was hit with a bad head cold that really stalled me out. I don’t have internet at home, so perhaps I was being ambitious about how much blog-hopping and comment-leaving I could do. I also wasn’t able to do any of the challenges. I met my goal of participating in one Twitter chat but I would have loved to do more! However I am pleased with my total number of pages read during the Bout of Books (750), as well as meeting my goals of posting two book reviews, finishing reading two books, and starting a third.

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

My goals

  • Read two books and post reviews; and start reading a third book ✓
  • Participate in at least one #boutofbooks Twitter chat ✓
  • Participate in at least two challenges/giveaways  [0/2]
  • Comment on at least 15 Bout of Books participants’ blogs [3/15]

Progress

Monday, May 13
I participated in the first #boutofbooks Twitter chat! I’m glad I caught this one because I might not have a chance with the other two—they are at times I may not have easy access to the internet. I also was able to post my review of The Art Forger by B. A. Shapiro (which I finished the weekend before Bout of Books started, but hey—still counts in my bookish goals, I think!). I also was able to read 130 pages in Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple, which I finished today. [Totals: 130 pages, 1 book read, 1 book finished, 1 review posted, 1 Twitter chat]

Tuesday, May 14
I ended up getting a bad head cold today, so I stayed home from work. This put a damper on my online participation, but I did get a bunch of reading done—155 pages total of Wild by Cheryl Strayed. [Totals: 285 pages, 2 books read, 1 book finished, 1 review posted, 1 Twitter chat]

Wednesday, May 15
I felt much better today! Went to my FT job in the morning, meeting for my PT job after that, so it has been a busy day. I spent much of the workday catching up on, well, work and went out with coworkers for lunch, so not much as far as blog hopping (probably most of that will happen on Saturday), but I was able to sneak in one comment on Devouring Texts. Also, I wrote and posted by review for Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple. I only had time to read about 6 pages of Wild. [Totals: 291 pages, 2 books read, 1 book finished, 2 reviews posted, 1/15 comments, 1 Twitter chat]

Thursday, May 16
Today I didn’t have a lot of time to read outside of my lunch break at work, since after work I went downtown to review a concert: only 53 pages read today of Wild. I left comments on the blogs I Read, Ergo I Write and Bookish Realm. [Totals: 344 pages, 2 books read, 1 book finished, 2 reviews posted, 3/15 comments, 1 Twitter chat]

Friday, May 17
My head cold came roaring back this morning, so I stayed home sick from work again. With no TV at home, I got lots of reading done (yay!) but with no internet, I wasn’t able to really participate in commenting, challenges, or posting my own reviews. I read 97 pages of Wild, finishing it today, and began Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand (51 pages). [Totals: 492 pages, 3 books read, 2 books finished, 2 reviews posted, 3/15 comments, 1 Twitter chat]

Saturday, May 18
Stayed at home sick all day today—no venturing out of the internetless house for wi-fi at a coffeeshop or library—so I was only able to read. 109 pages read of Unbroken today. [Totals: 601 pages, 3 books read, 2 books finished, 2 reviews posted, 3/15 comments, 1 Twitter chat]

Sunday, May 19
Same deal as Friday and Saturday—home sick. Again, reading a lot was good! But I’m bummed it totally snared my social participation online, and I’m behind on my review posts. Read 149 pages of Unbroken today. [FINAL Totals: 750 pages, 3 books read, 2 books finished, 2 reviews posted, 3/15 comments, 1 Twitter chat, 0/2 challenges]
