It’s Monday, what are you reading?—a weekly blog meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. Every so often I am able to join in!
Moving has completely taken over my life this month, which totally sucks. Also, our internet was shut down on Thursday so I can only squeeze in checking on fun webby stuff during downtimes/lunch at work. It’s been slow going and annoying and boring, to say the least. Typical moving!
The book I’ve been reading pretty much this whole month is Atonement by Ian McEwan. It’s one for my 2013 TBR Pile Challenge. The first third was sloooooooooow and very tough for me to get through, but after about 175 pages it finally picked up. I’m into Part Two now and it’s just all right. Nothing amazing for me. I’m sure my impressions have much more to do with my current situation than the quality of the story. I’ve had zero to little time for reading at all, and the writing is dense and all the action is internal so with all these big breaks between reading I’m losing steam and interest in the story.
So the house we’re temporarily staying at will not have an internet connection and I actually feel okay about this. Outside of work hours I can bring my laptop to a coffeeshop or the library, or if it’s just a quick email I can check that on my brand new iPad mini 3G! Otherwise, I’m going to use that free time off the computer to read, workout, and practice bass, and maybe get out of the house more in general. Hopefully without the internet constantly available I’ll even go to bed earlier. It’s been a stressful, too-busy month and I need some rest!
What are you reading this week?
