30 Day Book Challenge | Day 11 — A book that makes you happy
A book that made me all smiles throughout…
The Music Lesson by Victor Wooten. Wooten is a Grammy Award-winning bassist, known for playing with Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, Vital Tech Tones, and his musician brothers as The Wootens. If you haven’t heard Wooten, he’s an incredible player! Check out a few videos on youtube, especially Amazing Grace or A Show of Hands (but really, all of it is awesome).
I received a copy of The Music Lesson a few years ago for my birthday from a friend. Wooten takes you along on his quest for becoming a better musician, and it turns into this sort of otherworldly spirit journey. The prose is open and inviting, with a lot of humor and whimsy. It’s just a great, fun book that makes me happy just thinking about it now! I love being a bassist 🙂
Others on my shelves that make me happy are my Irish books…
They’re short and sweet and just delightful—I like to peek at the sayings and witticisms now and then, especially around St. Patrick’s Day, of course. If you’re lucky enough to be born Irish, you’re lucky enough 🙂
What are your go-to feel-good books?
