dreams from my father

A couple of weeks ago I finished reading Barack Obama’s Dreams from My Father. While President Obama’s focus is primarily on his race, overall his story about his struggle to find himself could touch a nerve in anyone who wonders where they belong in this world and to find their personal identity. Obama is a natural storyteller, and while I found the middle “Chicago” section about community organizing to lose my interest just a bit, the first section about his childhood and adolescence in Hawaii and Indonesia and the third section about his visit to Kenya following his father’s death were fascinating. I recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about President Obama’s background and from where his drive for leadership and helping people come.
